Smyrna started out with very humble beginnings. The railroad played a huge part in Smyrna’s development. In 1836 it made its way through Cobb County, and by its completion in 1842, the railroad had transformed Smyrna from a frontier village into a growing community.
Two Civil War battles occurred in the area, the Battle of Smyrna and the Battle of Ruff’s Mill, both on July 4, 1864. You can learn more about the Civil Wars at the Smyrna History Museum. The city was incorporated on August 23, 1872.
Today Smyrna is flourishing and the housing market is very competitive. There is no indication it is going to slow down anytime soon. The average home price is $464,000 up 5% from last year. The price of homes range from $305,000 up to $1,200,000. The average number of days a house stays on the market is 17.

The Great Outdoors
Silver Comet Trail – The trail head starts at Mavell Road in Smyrna and is 61.5 miles long. A paved pedestrian rail-trail free of charge, that travels through Cobb, Paulding, and Polk counties. This quiet, non-motorized trail is for walkers, hikers, bicyclists, rollerbladers, horses, dog walkers, and is mostly wheelchair accessible.
Jonquil Park – This 14 acre park hosts multiple soccer fields, a playground, picnic pavilions and a new fitness court.
Burger Dog Park – Caters to the four-legged family members. This 3.7-acre playground for Fido has two fenced play areas for large and small dogs, seasonally-available drinking fountains and a place to sit.
Tolleson Park – 26-acres that includes softball fields, a multi-use field, sand volleyball, playground, pavilion, and walking trail. There is also an outdoor pool and tennis courts.
Home of the Braves
Truist Park is the first of its kind — a destination that has incorporated the community with a state-of-the-art Major League Baseball ballpark without skimping on southern hospitality. This facility holds 41,000 seats designed to maximize sightlines, making every seat feel like the “best in the house”.
The Battery Atlanta -entertainment district that surrounds the ballpark. There is a mix of shops, dining, living and workspace in the area surrounding the ballpark.

The Market Village opened in October of 2002 in the heart of the city, and is unmatched in appeal and village atmosphere.
