Grant Park is named after Lemuel P. Grant, a prominent engineer and businessman who donated the land for the park in the late 19th century. Established in 1883, the neighborhood has grown around the park, becoming one of Atlanta’s most beloved communities. The area is rich in history, with many of its Victorian homes and buildings dating back to the late 1800s and early 1900s.

Architectural Significance

Most of Grant Park’s homes and buildings were built between the neighborhood’s founding in 1882 and the first decades of the 20th century. Grant Park boasts an elegant array of historic homes showcasing diverse architectural styles from the late Victorian and early 20th century. The neighborhood’s earliest development in the 1870s and 1880s introduced charming Queen Anne and Folk Victorian styles. Later, Craftsman bungalows, English Vernacular Revival houses, and a few Shotgun and Double Shotgun homes were added, enriching the architectural tapestry of this dynamic community.

Housing Market

The Grant Park housing market is somewhat competitive and it continues to be a sought after neighborhood to live in.  The median home price is $585,000. Houses can range from $300,000 up to 2 million dollars.  The average days a home stays on the market is 21, however, a “hot” home can sell in less than a week.

The Grant Park Neighborhood Association (GPNA) is a community organization formed over 5 decades ago.  It was established to unite the residents of the Grant Park neighborhood and advocate for their interests.  Over the years, GPNA has worked hard to improve the quality of life for its residents.  The GPNA continues to address community concerns relating to zoning, land use, public safety and environmental issues.  Throughout the neighborhood, residents display sunburst signs to support the ongoing efforts of the Grant Park Neighborhood Association.

Grant Park Candlelight Tour of Homes  –  A beloved holiday event where people can actually tour a selected number of homes decorated for the holidays in the neighborhood.

Grant Park Summer Shade Festival  – Held in August each year with 2 Stages of live music, food trucks , arts and crafts booths.  The best part, admission is FREE!

Grant Park Porch Fest  – Started 3 years ago, live music throughout the neighborhood performed on resident’s porches.

House in the Park – One day music event that adds much needed variety to the Atlanta music scene and features a range of House Music’s emerging local, regional, and international talent.

Grant Park – Atlanta’s oldest city park. Spanning over 130 acres, this lush green space is perfect for leisurely strolls, picnics, and outdoor activities. The park features beautiful walking paths, scenic ponds, and plenty of shaded areas to relax and enjoy nature.

BeltLine Eastside Trail –  A multi-use trail and green way, runs through the Grant Park area, offering a scenic route for walking, jogging, biking, and exploring. This trail connects various neighborhoods and provides access to parks, public art installations, and local businesses.

Atlanta Zoo – Home to more than 1,000 animals from around the world. From giant pandas to African elephants, the zoo offers an engaging and educational experience for visitors of all ages.

Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum – For history buffs, the Atlanta Cyclorama & Civil War Museum is a must-visit. This museum features a massive panoramic painting depicting the Battle of Atlanta giving a glimpse of history.

Historic Oakland Cemetery – Just a short walk from Grant Park, the Oakland Cemetery is one of Atlanta’s oldest landmarks.  Take a guided tour of the 48 acres full of treasures to learn about and walk the beautiful gardens.
